UGREEN 70532 2-in-1 M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure Adapter – USB 3.1 Gen 2, 10Gbps – Aluminum

Description

The UGREEN 70532 2-in-1 M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure Adapter is a portable external enclosure designed to convert a compatible M.2 NVMe SSD into a high-speed USB external drive.

Featuring a USB 3.1 Gen 2 interface with transfer speeds up to 10Gbps, the enclosure is suitable for high-speed file transfers, backups, data recovery, and turning an unused M.2 SSD into portable storage. Its aluminum construction helps dissipate heat during intensive SSD operation.

Key Features

• M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure
• USB 3.1 Gen 2
• Transfer speeds up to 10Gbps
• Supports M.2 NVMe PCIe SSDs
• Supports M-Key / B+M-Key compatible NVMe drives
• Supports common M.2 SSD sizes
• USB-C connectivity
• Suitable for laptops, desktops & compatible mobile devices
• Aluminum enclosure for improved heat dissipation
• Compact & portable design
• Plug-and-play
• Model / SKU: 70532

Up to 10Gbps Data Transfer

The UGREEN 70532 uses a USB 3.1 Gen 2 / 10Gbps interface.

Performance

• Maximum Interface Speed: 10Gbps
• USB 3.1 Gen 2: Yes
• Backward Compatibility: Yes
• High-speed file transfers: Yes

This makes it significantly faster than conventional 5Gbps USB 3.0 enclosures when paired with a compatible SSD and host device.

Actual SSD transfer speeds will be lower than the theoretical 10Gbps interface bandwidth.

M.2 NVMe SSD Support

The enclosure is designed for compatible PCIe NVMe M.2 solid-state drives.

It can be used to turn an internal SSD into a portable external storage drive for:

• Large file transfers
• Game storage
• Backups
• Photos & videos
• Data recovery
• SSD cloning
• Moving files between computers

Important

M.2 describes the physical form factor, not the storage protocol.

Before installation, check whether your SSD is NVMe/PCIe or SATA, as compatibility depends on the specific drive interface supported by the enclosure.

Multiple M.2 Sizes

The enclosure supports common M.2 SSD form factors, making it suitable for drives used in laptops, mini PCs, and desktop computers.

Common M.2 sizes include:

• 2230
• 2242
• 2260
• 2280

The number indicates the physical dimensions of the SSD; for example, an M.2 2280 drive measures approximately 22mm wide and 80mm long.

Aluminum Construction

The enclosure uses an aluminum body, which provides both durability and improved passive heat dissipation.

NVMe SSDs can become warm during sustained transfers, so the metal housing helps transfer heat away from the drive.

This is particularly useful when:

• Transferring large files
• Backing up drives
• Copying games
• Editing large media files
• Performing sustained SSD workloads

Portable External SSD

Once a compatible M.2 SSD is installed, the UGREEN 70532 effectively converts it into a portable USB storage device.

Example:

M.2 NVMe SSD → UGREEN 70532 → USB → Laptop / Desktop

This is useful if you upgrade the internal SSD in your computer and want to continue using the old drive as external storage.

Plug-and-Play

Once the SSD is properly installed and formatted, the enclosure can operate as a standard external storage device on compatible systems.

Suitable for compatible:

• Windows PCs
• macOS computers
• Linux computers
• Laptops
• Desktop PCs
• Other USB host devices with external-storage support

A new or previously unformatted SSD may need to be initialized and formatted before it appears as usable storage.

10Gbps vs NVMe SSD Speed

It is important to distinguish between the SSD's internal PCIe performance and the enclosure's USB interface speed.

An internal NVMe SSD may be rated for several thousand MB/s, but when installed inside this enclosure, performance is limited by the 10Gbps USB interface.

In practice, a 10Gbps enclosure generally cannot deliver the full internal PCIe speed of modern Gen3, Gen4, or Gen5 NVMe SSDs.

Important Compatibility Note

Before purchasing or installing an SSD, verify:

• SSD Form Factor: M.2
• SSD Protocol: NVMe / PCIe as supported
• SSD Size: Compatible 2230 / 2242 / 2260 / 2280
• Host USB Speed: 10Gbps recommended for maximum performance

A computer with only a 5Gbps USB port can still limit the enclosure to approximately that interface speed even though the enclosure itself supports 10Gbps.

Best For

• M.2 NVMe SSDs
• Portable External Storage
• Laptop SSD Upgrades
• SSD Data Recovery
• Drive Cloning
• Large File Transfers
• Game Storage
• Photos & Videos
• Windows PCs
• MacBooks
• Desktop PCs
• Technicians & PC Builders
