Up to 10Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2

The enclosure uses:

USB 3.2 Gen 2

with a theoretical maximum interface transfer rate of:

10Gbps

It is also backward compatible with slower USB standards.

Maximum USB Interface Speed

Up to 10Gbps

Actual SSD transfer performance will be lower and depends on:

• Installed NVMe SSD
• Host USB Port
• USB Cable
• SSD Temperature
• Computer Hardware
• Operating System
• File Type and File Size

The 10Gbps figure is the interface's theoretical maximum, not a guaranteed file-transfer speed.

M.2 NVMe SSD Compatibility

The enclosure supports compatible:

M.2 PCIe NVMe SSDs

with:

• M-Key
• Compatible B+M-Key NVMe

and the following physical sizes:

• 2230
• 2242
• 2260
• 2280

Supported SSD Capacity

UGREEN's current specification lists support for SSD capacities up to:

8TB

Maximum Capacity

Up to 8TB

The SSD itself is sold separately.

Important NVMe / SATA Compatibility

For the NVMe-only version matching this product wording, the enclosure supports:

M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD

It does not support:

M.2 SATA / NGFF SSD
mSATA SSD
2.5-Inch SATA SSD
2.5-Inch HDD
3.5-Inch HDD

UGREEN explicitly states that the NVMe-only enclosure does not support SATA NGFF or mSATA SSDs.

Important B+M-Key Note

The physical key shape alone does not determine compatibility.

Some B+M-Key M.2 drives use the SATA protocol, while others may use PCIe/NVMe.

For this NVMe-only enclosure, the installed drive must use a supported NVMe/PCIe protocol.

A B+M-Key SATA/NGFF SSD is not supported.

Tool-Free Installation

The enclosure features a:

Tool-Free Opening Design

UGREEN's installation system allows the enclosure to be opened and the compatible M.2 SSD installed without requiring a conventional screwdriver for the enclosure itself.

This is convenient for:

• Changing SSDs
• Testing NVMe Drives
• Data Recovery
• Drive Cloning
• Backups
• Reusing Old SSDs
• Portable Storage

UASP Support

The enclosure supports:

UASP – USB Attached SCSI Protocol

for compatible operating systems and USB controllers.

UASP can provide more efficient storage communication than conventional USB mass-storage operation.

TRIM Support

The enclosure also supports:

TRIM

with compatible SSDs and operating systems.

TRIM allows the operating system and SSD to manage unused storage blocks more efficiently.

S.M.A.R.T. Support

UGREEN specifies:

S.M.A.R.T. Support

for monitoring compatible SSD health information through supported software and operating systems.

Aluminum Housing

The enclosure uses an:

Aluminum Housing

combined with a thermal pad to improve contact between the SSD and enclosure body.

This helps transfer heat generated by the NVMe SSD to the enclosure during sustained operation.

Material

Aluminum

Thermal Pad

Yes

RTL9210 Controller

UGREEN identifies an:

RTL9210-series controller

for this enclosure family, with protection features for stable SSD operation.

Protection Features

• Short-Circuit Protection
• Over-Current Protection
• Additional Electrical Protection

USB-C Connection

The enclosure connects to the host through USB-C and the official package for the matching version includes both:

USB-C to USB-C Cable

and:

USB-C to USB-A Cable

This provides compatibility with computers and other host devices equipped with either USB-C or conventional USB-A ports.

Important Cable Speed Note

To achieve the enclosure's maximum:

10Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2

interface speed, the host USB port and cable must also support 10Gbps USB data transfer.

Connecting it to a slower USB port will reduce maximum transfer speed.

Plug and Play

The enclosure is designed for:

Plug-and-Play

operation.

Dedicated Driver Required

No – on normally supported operating systems

A new SSD may still need to be initialized, partitioned, and formatted before it appears as usable storage.

Operating System Compatibility

UGREEN lists compatibility with:

• Windows
• macOS
• Linux
• Android
• iOS

Device compatibility depends on USB host support, power availability, operating-system support, and the file system used on the SSD.

Specifications

UGREEN's matching official NVMe-only model supports 10Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2, M/B+M NVMe drives in 2230/2242/2260/2280 sizes, capacities up to 8TB, UASP/TRIM and tool-free installation.

Important SSD Not Included Note

This product is an:

SSD Enclosure / Adapter Only

An M.2 NVMe SSD is not included.

A compatible SSD must be installed separately.

Important M.2 SATA Warning

Do not select compatibility based only on the physical appearance of the M.2 connector.

For the NVMe-only version:

M-Key NVMe: Supported
B+M-Key NVMe: Supported when protocol-compatible
B-Key SATA: Not Supported
B+M-Key SATA/NGFF: Not Supported
mSATA: Not Supported

Important 10Gbps Note

10Gbps is the theoretical USB interface bandwidth.

It should not be advertised as guaranteed 10Gbps SSD read/write performance.

Actual transfer speed depends on the SSD, host controller, USB connection, thermal conditions, operating system, and workload.

Important PS5 Note

An external USB NVMe enclosure should not be confused with installing an NVMe SSD in the PS5's internal M.2 expansion slot.

PS5 games that require internal PS5 storage cannot simply use an external USB enclosure as equivalent internal M.2 expansion storage.
