EA Sports FC 27 is officially available today for Early Access players, and with the launch of the new FC 27 season, many of us are turning our attention to the popular Ultimate Team mode, one of the most played modes in the history of EA Sports FC and before that, FIFA.
Of course, starting your Ultimate Team journey in FC 27 isn’t simply about opening as many packs as possible and building the highest-rated squad. Quite the opposite, in fact. The first few hours and days could be the most important period of the entire season, because every Coin, every player, and every decision you make can have a major impact later on.
That’s why we’ve decided to share more than 12 years of experience with Ultimate Team and put together our comprehensive guide to starting your journey the right way, helping you build your club and make the most of Ultimate Team in FC 27, which officially launches for everyone on September 25.
Don’t Spend Your Resources Just for the Sake of Spending
One of the biggest mistakes you can make at the beginning is treating every Coin like disposable money. Don’t start buying expensive players simply because they have high ratings. Instead focus on building an affordable and well-balanced squad that you can rely on against both the AI and other players, while saving a significant portion of your Coins for the market and trading.
You should also pay close attention to in-game stats rather than being impressed by overall ratings. And don’t make achieving maximum Chemistry an objective in itself if doing so forces you to use lower-quality players on the pitch. In other words, the right player for your squad and budget is far more valuable than flashy, expensive cards.
Play the Content That Actually Gives You Value
During the first few days, your priority should be content that provides tangible rewards. Don’t immediately jump into the Rivals grind as if the season is ending tomorrow! Start by completing the easier Objectives to earn rewards and Coins that will help you later. You should also play Squad Battles and Live Events, especially since FC 27 introduces more single-player content that rewards you for progressing without forcing you to do everything online.
During your first few days with FC 27, playing single-player matches against the AI, earning Coins, and completing objectives is more valuable than immediately jumping into PvP competition. The idea is simple: gather as many resources as possible while building a strong foundation for your club.
Be Smart About SBCs
There’s no doubt that Squad Building Challenges, or SBCs, will be one of your most important sources of progression early on. But don’t complete every SBC simply because it appears in front of you. Always ask yourself first: Is the reward actually worth the value of the players I’m giving up and the Coins I’m spending?
If the answer is yes, go for it. But our advice is to be patient. The early stages of the game are designed to tempt you into completing these challenges, while better players and more worthwhile SBCs will continue to appear as the season progresses.
That’s why you should preserve your resources and players for an SBC that genuinely deserves them.
FC 27 also introduces a simplified SBC system that places greater emphasis on item ratings and how well they meet the requirements, along with the ability to use duplicate items. This makes managing your club’s inventory even more important.
Keep players you might need later rather than getting rid of them at random.
Evolutions Could Be Your Secret Weapon
Don’t look at Evolutions as nothing more than a way to upgrade a player you like. Since their introduction, Evolutions have been one of our most reliable tools for keeping up with players who spend heavily in and outside the game.
With branching paths available in FC 27, you can now choose between multiple ways to develop a card, while also being able to preview the entire upgrade path before committing to it.
So don’t evolve a player simply because the upgraded card looks appealing. Think carefully about their position, stats, and PlayStyles, and consider whether they’ll still be useful several weeks down the line. The last thing you want is to waste a valuable Evolution on the wrong player and lose access to that upgrade permanently.
The Market Matters More Than the Pack You Haven’t Opened
If you get players you don’t need, don’t rush to sell them. Keep an eye on the market, learn when to sell, and understand when player prices tend to rise and fall.
We always advise new players not to make buying and selling decisions based on impulse or emotion. Instead, learn the relationship between highly demanded Meta players and those with little value, commonly known as Fodder, which is primarily used for SBCs.
The golden rule at the beginning remains the same: don’t spend your Coins on packs if your goal is to build a strong club. A pack might give you an incredible player, but more often than not, you’ll end up with something you’ll never use. Your Coins, on the other hand, give you control over your decisions.
Don’t Chase the Meta on Day One
It’s natural to see a content creator or a friend post a list of the top 10 players in FC 27 and immediately want to buy all of them. But don’t rush, Meta players prices can change rapidly as the game evolves. More importantly, the prices we’re seeing during the current pre-launch period aren’t necessarily representative of the real market. Things can change significantly once genuine trading begins with the full launch on September 25.
So don’t blindly follow content creators or your friends and rush to buy their players and squads. Build a team that suits your own playstyle and your available resources. Invest the time and Coins you earn wisely so that, eventually, you can afford to try out the players you actually want to play with.
Don’t Forget About FUT Gallery
One of FC 27’s most notable additions is FUT Gallery, which keeps a record of the items that have passed through your club even after you sell them or use them in SBCs. It also allows you to complete collections, level up your gallery, and earn rewards. This means that some cards that might seem completely useless to your current squad could actually have long-term value for your club. So keep checking your FUT Gallery regularly and make the most of the rewards it offers. They can give your club an additional boost as you progress through both single-player and multiplayer content.
Ultimately, the best way to start FC 27 especially Ultimate Team isn’t to have the strongest squad within the first 24 hours. It’s to have a club that fits your playstyle, a healthy amount of Coins saved, a balanced squad, players with room to develop, a solid stockpile of items, and a good understanding of the market and SBCs.
Don’t try to finish the game in a week, Ultimate Team is built around a long season, and the player who manages their resources wisely will ultimately be in a stronger position than someone who spends everything right at the beginning.
So, tell us: what’s the first thing you’ll do when you jump into FUT 27? Build your squad, start trading, or chase the Meta players?
